The Mission:

From Nov. 28th, 2008 to Feb. 8th, 2009 (12 weeks) I intend to run 13 races of marathon distance (26.2 miles) or greater to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. In total, if all goes as planned, approximately 388 miles will have been covered over a span of a 12 week time frame and a significant amount of money will have been raised for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

100% of donations will go directly to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

A few things...

First off I want to put out a big thank you to those of you who have already donated, at this point $828 has been raised for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and there's still 2 full months to go! Please remember to forward this along to friends and family as well, the more folks who see this the more cash we can raise!

Second, I want to bring up one small, edit to the plan. If you glance at the race list on the left you might notice it's now 14 races long, added into the mix is the "First Call to Run Marathon (or 50K)" on January 1st, I've signed up for this race for fear that one of the 3 final races listed may not happen this year (specifically the Yours Truly 50K). Rest assured, one way or another 13 races will get run in 12 weeks ;-)

Finally, I've posted a long winded account of how this past weekend went, if you'd like to read the details click here.

More to come soon! Thanks for your interest!

The Yours Truly 50k is a global fun run. You can run alone and it will count towards your maniac totals since you will be technically running against everyone on the planet that participates in it and have 24 hours to get your 50k in along a course that is measured. This means you can run 50k on a treadmill like how MarathonFreak and Pumped2Run did at a 24HR Fitness in Portland. Or you can run a course that was used in a previous race, like some people did when they were up in Bellingham and ran the Chuckanut 50k course.

Nic, Lord Hill will not be run this year. I asked RD Tim Lofton who is busy coaching his son William's basketball team. The Pigtail run at LY will be either 1/24 or 1/31. Jon offers the YT option which is a good alternative. You can also put on a race in the open weekend (or day). I'm sure you can find a MM or two who will be willing to run ;-) And you can have donations for that run go towards your cause.

Personally, I will be looking for a race on the open weekend (1/24 or 1/31) and possibly on both 2/14 & 2/15. If either of those are open (not sure when the Valentine Marathon is being run), there's an opportunity as well.

Good luck with your goal to raise money for a good cause. *tc
